Brahma thought of the day [May. 30th, 2004|11:02 am]
Autumn Rain
To limit your faith to one set of beliefs or an institutional belief system is to commit intellectual suicide. We shut down the possibility of being enlightened and enriched by others' experiences, which may be derived from their beliefs. We build a barrier between ourselves and our fellow travellers and then feel threatened, even in small and subtle ways, by someone of a different faith. The deepest faith is the intuitive conviction that all is as it should be, despite appearances, and that every human being is intrinsically good, despite appearances. This reminds us to keep our minds open, not take the law into our own hands, and look out for the best in others, regardless of what they say or do. This is faith in life, not faith in a set of learned or inherited beliefs. Have you ever noticed how people don't go to war over their faith in life?

When the fabric of our relationships is spun of openess, love and trust then, in the silence between the words, the tapestry is made complete.

Peace is not a passive attitude; it is an active state. It requires having constant attention in order to live and to respond as a peaceful being to any upset in life.

raja yoga thought of the day by Brahma Kumaris [May. 20th, 2004|07:58 pm]

Eye Of The Storm
A wise sea captain caught in a tropical storm knows that if he holds his vessel on the periphery it will get hurled from one side to the other. If he can reach the eye of the storm, he will enter a place of stillness. The storm will then subside and the ship can continue its journey. Similarly, when everything around me is changing in a very intense way, the best place for me to seek shelter and refuge is not on the outside, but deep within the self, where I can get in touch with my own inner being, find strength and stability, then come out and do whatever it is I need to.

Who has seen TROY?
I want to see it, was wondering what you thought!
Scared to pay the money for a potentially crappy film.

thought of the day by Brahma Kumaris [Apr. 27th, 2004|07:37 pm]

Wow, the raja thought of the day REALLY resonates with my day...

Humility grows a little more each time I step away from my own feelings and opinions and genuinely listen to the experience of another human being. Humility is dedication to the extent that no acknowledgement is sought for the self. Only when I have learned to value others no more or less than I value myself can I be said to be truly humble.

I'm reading three books at once: selected poems by Pablo Neruda, 100 years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and The Unbearable lightness of being by Milan Kundera.
All three are simply rapturous!

In Tune
To be in tune with yourself, go beyond the sound of thoughts, the sound of feelings and especially beyond the sound of what, how, when, who and why.

Today we made home made falafels...i was going to take mine home for dinner...but i saw the crossing guard standing there and decided to give it to him. He LOVES falafels.

Then i opened my email and i got this message as the thought of the day:

Whenever there is an opportunity to give, you take it.

This is a good start to a beautiful day.
